PBPhonics 1 to 3 2.4

PBPhonics serves as a foundational tool for adults and young adults engaged in basic English literacy development, including learners acquiring English as a second language. It provides a structured approach for students to improve their phonemic awareness through the following features:

• Listening to individual phonemes that comprise a word
• Hearing those phonemes blended seamlessly into the full word
• Listening to the complete pronunciation of the word
• Recording their own speech of the word for comparison with PBPhonics audio
• Engaging in assessments that match spoken sounds to their corresponding written forms

Instruction is delivered via animated gestures, eliminating reliance on written or spoken instructions. The program gradually increases in complexity, starting with simple vocabulary and test structures, and automatically adapting as the learner demonstrates proficiency and gains confidence. Educators have the option to select appropriate levels and monitor student progress through an intuitive ⓘ screen interface.

PBPhonics 1 to 3 encompasses 18 phonemes distributed across three sets (S,A,T,I,P,N; CK,E,H,R,M,D; and G,O,U,L,F,B), which are used to construct a total of 278 words. Some words are accompanied by visual images, while others include spoken sentences to provide contextual understanding. All recordings feature an Australian accent and are performed by multiple voices to ensure variety. Instructors can also substitute the default sounds with their own recordings for customization.

Once students have mastered all 18 phonemes, they can progress to PBPhonics 1 to 7, which expands the curriculum to include 42 phonemes and a total of 619 words. It is important to note that PBPhonics 1 to 7 is offered as a separate application, whereas PBPhonics 1 to 3 does not require any in-app purchases.
